Health Tip - Essential Oils Stress

6.18.08

Daytime stress has a tendency to follow us home in the form of racing thoughts and endless to-do lists.  According to the National Sleep Foundation’s 2008 “Sleep in America” poll, the average time spent sleeping is only 6 hours and 40 minutes; but the recommended amount of sleep for adults is 7 to 9 hours each night.

Two things that you can do to encourage a good night’s sleep are: taking a hot bath and using essential oils.  The hot bath before bed heats up your body’s core and as it cools it triggers a biological function that your body associates with being at rest.  Adding 3 to 4 drops of essential oils to the bath water will enhance this effect.  The scent of essential oils like lavender and chamomile are scientifically proven to help provide a better night’s sleep.

Sweet dreams,
